"Oh hey! I'm just hangin' out, how 'bout you?"
First off, please excuse me if there are any typos in this entry. My eyeballs, ERGH! I'm not sure what's wrong with them today, probably eye strain - which started bothering me last night. Yes, I should wear my glasses... I know.
Anyway,
When I started flying trapeze about 10 years ago, I NEVER thought I'd end up branching off the way I did to other aerial arts. It was all about the rush of flying.
It's now been a YEAR since my first real static trapeze lesson, and myself and my girls Mel/Alisha/Lauren, we're all set to perform in our first ever show this weekend.
We're all nervous, but as Ad pointed out - I am used to "performing", but in a different way. In radio land, when the mic goes on, it's just friends talking to friends. I think when the spotlight is on you and people can see you, it just feels different, I dunno, but wish me luck... please!!
Thank you to the beautiful Andrea for creating/designing the most amazing costume and bringing my idea to life, and to Amy... my trapeze mommy, I love you! She's preggers, working & still able to find time to teach us.
My next adventure is to branch off even more. I want to push myself. I've had just a taste of lyra (aerial hoop) training.
It was spontaneous, but yesterday I reached out to a very well-known lyra maker in the circus business. Her and I discussed sizing and she was beyond helpful. With the little training I've had, I did notice that the hoops I practiced on felt big... so I invested in a "Wendy-sized" one to fit my small 5'1" frame. I'm excited.
My UPS/Fed Ex drivers must think I'm insane. (Which is why I tip them around the holidays, lol!) Have a great day!
xo,
W
