Here are some cheap ideas for Sunday's "Big Game" if you are having a party for the game:

1. Utilize The Dollar Store. Seriously, a bag of chips in the grocery store can run up to $4, in the dollar store? Uh. Yeah. A dollar. Four bags for the price of one? Score. Other great things to get for your party while there - plates, napkins, plastic cutlery, dips, salsa and even some decorations. You'll pay a quarter for these items here than you would else where.
2. Make one dish. We used to go crazy - wings, burgers, chili, hotdogs, deli sandwiches, the works. You name it, we served it. Sure, it was fun but it was indulgent and overkill. Now we'll make one big easy crock pot of chili and boil a few hotdogs. Kids can have the dogs, adults the chili and if you are really feeling fancy, do some chili dogs. No one has complained and we have saved a ton by scaling back.
3. Consider throwing it potluck style. Many of my friends enjoy cooking so they'll bring over some macaroni and cheese, a homemade trio of dips or something else tasty. This is a great option if you have friends who won't feel burdened by doing some cooking.
4. What can I bring? If a guest asks me this, I suggest beer, wine or dessert. We do buy a few bottles of beer but our guests usually honor this request happily and there's always more than enough.
Or how 'bout this?
